COURSE UPDATE

We have been working on a few golf course improvement projects that got underway last fall through the winter and are continuing those efforts this spring to start the season.

All streams and ponds around the course have been trimmed down for a more cleaner look.

Trees and brush have been removed from the left side of #6 green to promote faster play and better aesthetics.

#11 the right side will be trimmed going down the OB/Fence line.

Work has begun taking trees out around the area of #14 green as well as clearing of brush to bring more sun and air to the green for continued growth.

Removal of several trees and brush on the left side of #15 fairway to promote faster play as well as getting more air flow in that area.

A few trees are being removed on the left side of #16 for airflow and grass growth.

Several bunkers are being eliminated and other improved with the objective of making the course more user friendly.

A few tees will be leveled with topsoil.

Some fairway landing areas will be widened as needed.

A daily plan will be implemented for cutting greens and changing holes as needed depending on play amounts.

Fairways will be fertilized and topsoil added as needed in areas where grass was dying due to excessive rain fall amounts last season.

Other projects that will be working on are addressing a few drainage issues in some areas of the course and fixing some of the tee boxes.

We are committed and dedicated to getting the course in the best shape possible for the 2019 golf season and making the course more user-friendly for players of all ability.

THE GREENS HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER UPDATE

After one year of meetings with the Town of Catskill Zoning Board and two public reviews, we are happy to announce the Zoning Board issued two Variances (Use and Area) for building a Suites Hotel, past the restaurant, where our current 9th fairway resides.

The 49 units Greens Hotel and Conference Center will consist of 16 Studio units, 24 one bedroom units, 8 two bedroom units, and one bridal suite. These furnished units will be rented by the day, week, or month for both overnight tourist guests, skiers in winter, golfers in summer, tournaments, conferences, and wedding events. We hope to
make the Catskill Golf Resort a year round resort facility and a special events destination for “Stay and Play Golf.”

We need one more permit from the Catskill Planning Board, which requires an Environment Assessment Form (EAF) and a water supply letter from the Village of Catskill Public Works Department. We hope to have both for the Planning Board approval for a Building Permit by the middle of the summer.

Ground breaking for the foundation is estimated for the fall 2019. A new par 3 hole will be built where the old Blue Tee Box resides on number 8 to keep the course 18 holes.

All golf will be on the East side of Brooks Lane in 2020.

PICKLEBALL COMING TO THE CATSKILL GOLF RESORT IN 2019

The fastest growing sport in the US is Pickleball. This popular sport is played with a paddle/racquet and a baseball size wiffleball on a court about half the size of a Tennis Court with either 2 or 4 players.

It involves less running than tennis and more eye and hand coordination The Viplers (David, Howard, and Sandie) visited the Naples, Florida Pickleball Open facility, where they have 60 courts.

Our objective is to build 2 courts where the old tennis court was, opposite the restaurant. If popular in Catskill, additional courts will be built past the new Greens Hotel location.

We look forward to welcoming our new and repeat Members and Greens Fee Players to the Catskill Golf Resort for the 2019 Golf Season.
